Customer Testimonials

40+ Year Piano Educator & Performer

“I have been a piano educator and performer for over forty years.  The work that Tom Zasadny and Premier Piano Service offer is of the highest quality. I am absolutely loving my piano that Premier Piano Service rebuilt. Truly, it is my dream piano!!! The tone, the touch, the EVERYTHING about it! There is nothing like a "Zasadny-Steinway!" Tom and his team are the best in the business. I have known and worked with him for over twenty years, witnessing firsthand the incredible attention to detail and quality represented in all aspects of his restoration services.  Tom’s amazing talent, dedication and professionalism as a technician are rare, indeed. Look no further for your piano needs!I also had the honor of teaching piano to the Zasadny children over the years and knowing his wife Sharla.  You’ll never know how much I value the entire Zasadny family. I am so glad our paths crossed. They have been a treasure to our family.”

The Restoration Process

At Premier Piano Gallery, our Certified Steinway Restorations follow a meticulous, multi-step process to ensure each piano is restored to its original beauty and performance. Each Steinway is evaluated and then fully disassembled for restoration in three main areas—the Action, Belly, and Case—known as the ABC’s of the piano.

1

The Action

The action involves refurbishing the keyboard and keys to provide the responsive touch and nuanced control that Steinway pianos are known for. We replace all necessary felt, bushings, and keytops with premium parts, and each rebuilt Steinway in our showroom is equipped with genuine Steinway action components. Many restorations include custom-fitted key sets for optimal performance and aesthetic appeal.

2

The Belly

This core section includes the pinblock, soundboard, plate, strings, and dampers—all vital for a Steinway’s rich, resonant tone. Sound boards and pinblocks are restored using genuine Steinway & Sons parts, a unique and vital part of the Steinway sound, only available in a Certified Steinway Restoration. We use the finest wire and tuning pins available to ensure stable tuning and tonal purity. After the action and belly work are complete, the piano is placed under an action “pounder,” which plays the instrument for up to 10 hours to settle the action and stretch the strings, helping to stabilize the piano for optimal playability.

3

The Case

The case restoration process involves removing the old finish, making necessary repairs to the wood, and then applying primers, stains, and top coats. After curing, the piano is sanded and polished to a pristine sheen. Hardware is either plated, polished, or replaced to match the piano’s restored beauty. In addition to traditional lacquer finishes in black or wood tones, some restorations feature a high-gloss polyester finish for a contemporary, mirror-like appearance

4

The Full Rebuild

A fully rebuilt Steinway undergoes all of these restoration steps to achieve a concert-ready state. Each of our Steinways in the gallery has completed an extensive checklist to meet Steinway & Sons’ rigorous standards, ensuring a piano that performs and looks like new. Partial rebuilds are also available, offering tailored restoration solutions to meet specific needs.
